Malayali expat lends helping hand to Narayani teacher, provided a house and money for living expenses

KASARGOD: A Malayali expat has provided a rented house and money for living expenses to Narayani teacher who has been teaching children for the past 50 years. She walked around the village barefoot going from house to house to teach. Balaji Srinivasan, Founder CEO and Managing Director of Towell Engineering Group, Muscat has lent a helping hand to Narayani teacher.

Kerala Kaumudi had published a story about Narayani teacher’s plight on June 24. She didn’t have an own house and was living in a tiny room near Cheruvathur railway station. This story has prompted Srinivasan to help. He has instructed teacher to start a bank account and has sent money for expenses. Then he also found a house for her to stay. Narayani teacher and her sick husband Damodaran lives in this house now. Srinivasan has informed that he would provide money monthly from now on to meet their expenses.

Balaji Srinivasan has done many such philanthropic activities and has provided employment to several people. He also established a school in Mysore for mentally challenged children. He has roots in Ottapalam.

Narayani teacher has taught many students in the past 50 years including doctors and engineers. Actress Kavya Madhavan is also her disciple. She takes tuition to children by visiting their houses and teaches Malayalam, Sanskrit, Hindi and English languages in a simple way.

Narayani teacher has thanked Kerala Kaumudi for publishing a story about her and Balaji Srinavasan for his help.
