THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala Cabinet on Wednesday granted permission to increase the milk price in the state by Rs 6. The Chairman of Milma will announce the day from which the price increase will come into effect. Dairy Development Minister J Chinchurani had earlier informed that the price of milk will be increased by at least five rupees.
Meanwhile, there will also be an increase in the price of liquor in the state. As the government has decided to waive the sales tax on liquor produced in Kerala, the price hike is to compensate for the loss due to this.
According to reports, there may be an increase of 2 percent, which is a maximum of 10 rupees in liquor prices. The government has waived the five percent tax that was levied on liquor producers. The last time liquor prices were increased in the state was in February 2021. There was a hike of up to Rs 90 for a bottle of liquor.
