NEW DELHI: Tariq Anwar AICC general secretary who is in-charge of Kerala has said that Shashi Tharoor’s Malabar tour cannot be considered a move against the party. He stated that no complaint has been received against Tharoor and added that there is no immediate need for AICC to intervene in the matter.

“It’s just a small issue. There is no groupism. The matter was discussed with the KPCC president. The KPCC will solve the problem.”, said Anwar. It is reported that Tariq Anwar, who will reach Kerala on Friday, will meet Congress leaders in Kozhikode.

Meanwhile, the scenario is different within Congress. The traditional group equations have changed and there are two groups within Congress one that supports Tharoor and the other against him. Opposition leader VD Satheeshan has indirectly mocked Tharoor by calling him a balloon blown up by media. Tharoor also retorted that he did not come into Kerala politics as part of a group and stated that he is against sectarianism.

While MPs MK Raghavan and K Muraleedharan openly supported Tharoor, many senior leaders of Congress (A) and I groups secretly supports Tharoor.

Youth leaders of both groups are supporting Tharoor, assuming that if Tharoor gets stronghold in state politics, their future will be more secure. There is another faction that does not want to strengthen KC Venugopal-VD Satheesan alliance. It is indicated that the KPCC president's thoughts are also in the same direction.
