Sewage treatment plant in Kothi; Strong protests against corporation, hartal begins 

KOZHIKODE: The hartal called by the striking panel against the decision of the corporation to build a sewage treatment plant at Kothi has started. The corporation staged strong protests after the corporation started taking steps to construct the wall on all sides of the area. Nearly 42 people were arrested. With this, a local hartal was called in 57,58,59 divisions at Kuttichira, Kundungal, Idiyangara, Pallikandi, Kuthukallu, Nainamvalappu and Kothi.

There were strong protests against the project in the area for the past two days. The corporation is of the stand that they will not withdraw from the project. Meantime, the opposition is likely to voice the issue in today’s council meet.
