KATHMANDU: China has reportedly encroached on 36 hectares of Nepal land at 10 places on the northern border. The encroachment was found by Nepal's Ministry of Agriculture. China has also banned farmers from border villages from entering here. International media reports that the Ministry of Home Affairs of Nepal has also shared similar concerns.
China has started efforts to build canals and roads near the border post in Nepal's western region of Humla. In 2016, China's People's Liberation Army established a veterinary center for animal welfare in the Nepali district. China has been conducting 'surveillance operations' in the Lalungzong border area, which is the Chinese border adjacent to Nepal. As per reports, Nepalese farmers are facing restrictions on livestock grazing. There is also a Chinese ban on ‘Hindu and Buddhist shrines’ in the border area,
Seven out of the fifteen districts of Nepal that share the border faces Chinese encroachment including Dolakha, Gorkha, Darchula, Humla, Sindhupalchok, Sankhuwasa and Rasuwa.
