AUCKLAND: A record fourth-wicket partnership between Tom Latham and skipper Kane Williamson guided New Zealand to a comfortable seven-wicket victory against India at Eden Park in Auckland on Friday.

Several records were broken in the first ODI of the three-match series as the Kiwi duo smashed the Indian bowlers all around the park for an unbeaten 221-run partnership. The Kiwi team reached their target of 307 runs with almost three overs left.

Latham scored an unbeaten 145 in 108 balls while the Kiwi captain remained unbeaten and hit 94 runs in 98 deliveries.

Umran Malik impressed in his debut with his pace and was the pick of the bowlers for India after scalping two wickets.

Earlier, India posted a score of 306/7 with stellar knocks from Shikhar Dhawan, Shubhman Gill, Sanju Samson and a late flourish from Washington Sundar.
