PALLURUTHY: Golden Chariot, the luxury train of Indian Railways, arrived at the Kochi Harbor Terminus on Thursday. The train left Bengaluru on November 20 and reached Kochi yesterday morning. The tourists will stay overnight on the train after visiting Mattancherry and Fort Kochi. They will go to Cherthala and see elephant feeding. Following this, there will be a houseboat trip to Kumarakom. The tourists will begin the return journey to Bengaluru from Alappuzha at 4.30 pm.
There are 30 passengers on the train, of which 15 are Indians. The rest are from Switzerland, Russia, Australia and England. The four deluxe cabins on the Golden Chariot train are named after the dynasties of South India. The train has 13 double-bed cabins, 30 twin-bed cabins and one cabin for people with special needs.
The two restaurants in the train serve international cuisine. Alcohol is also available. There is a fitness centre and Ayurvedic spa therapy. This is the first time in many years that a passenger train arrived at Kochi Harbor Terminus.
