Central fellowship to Sadanam Krishnan Kutty

NEW DELHI: The Sangeet Natak Akademi has named 10 eminent personalities, including Kathakali artist Sadanam Krishnan Kutty and Carnatic music artist TV Gopalakrishnan, for the prestigious Sangeet Natak Akademi Fellow or Akademi Ratna awards. 86 artists above the age of 75 were also selected for the Amrit Awards to mark the 75th anniversary of Independence. Five artists, including CL Jose, from Kerala, will get the Amrit award.

The General Council also selected 128 artists from the field of music, dance, theatre, traditional/folk/tribal music/dance/theatre, puppetry and overall contribution/scholarship in the performing arts for the Sangeet Natak Akademi Awards (Akademi Puraskar). 102 persons will get the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar. The awards for the years 2019 and 2020, which were suspended due to Covid, have also been announced.

The honour of Akademi Fellow carries a purse money of Rs 3 lakh while the Akademi Award carries Rs 1 lakh, besides a Tamrapatra and Angavastram.

2019: Pala CK Ramachandran, Trivandrum V Surendran, Kottakal Nandakumaran Nair, Nirmala Panicker, Peruvanam Kuttan Marar,

2021: Radha Namboothiri, Inchakkad Ramachandran Pillai, Neena Prasad and Kalamandalam Girija will receive the Academy Award.
