DOHA: In yet another upset of the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2022, Morocco recorded a 2-0 win over Belgium in a Group F match at Al Thumama Stadium here. The goals were scored by Abdelhamid Sabiri and Zakaria Aboukhlal.
Morocco now have four points in two matches after playing out a draw in their previous match against Croatia. Belgium has three points in two games with one win and one defeat.
Several efforts from Belgium went in vain as Morocco tried to counter at every opportunity.
Yet another assist from Thorgan Hazard went in vain as Thomas Meunier right footed shot from outside the box is saved in the centre of the goal.
Around the 30-minute mark, Morocco got a free kick and the shot from Hakim Ziyech on the right wing ended up in the back of the net but the VAR ruled it as offside.
In the 73rd minute, Morocco broke the deadlock with a similar freekick earlier denied by VAR, this time from the left wing. Abdelhamid Sabiri brilliant free-kick from a difficult went on to beat Courtois.
The final nail in the coffin for Belgium came when Zakaria Aboukhlal's brilliant finish from Hakim Ziyech's assist in injury time gave Morocco a commanding 2-0 lead.
