THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A case has been registered against 50 people for threatening to kill a pregnant woman during the Vizhinjam clashes. The protesters threatened to kill the woman during the violence that broke out on Saturday. Her complaint is that they hurled abuses at her, threatened to kill her and also pelted stones at her. Based on that, a case has been registered under serious charges.
The complainant is Gopika, a native of Mullur. Gopika, who was at home, shot the visuals of the protesters chasing the activists of the janakeeya samithi organized against the harbour strike, in her mobile. Seeing this, the protesters barged into her house and damaged the window panes and tried to attack her for shooting the visuals.
However, in the complaint to the police, she mentioned that when she told them that she is pregnant and requested them not to harm her, they hurled abuses at her and her baby.
Following the woman's complaint, the Vizhinjam police filed a case against the protestors under various charges including attempt to murder, rioting, insulting womanhood, hurling abuses, house trespassing and for destroying things.
