Govt deputes DCP Lalji to control port, asks him to reach Vizhinjam as early as possible from Sabarimala duty

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Crime and administration DCP K Lalji has been entrusted for the investigation of the cases related to Vizhinjam clashes under the supervision of city police commissioner G Sparjan Kumar. He is the head of the investigation team. Lalji, who was on Sabarimala duty, was called back and entrusted with the investigation. District crime branch assistant commissioner B Anil Kumar, DCRB assistant commissioner J Dinil, Thiruvananthapuram rural narcotic DySP Rasith, cyber city assistant commissioner S Hari are the other officers of the investigation team. There will be circle and sub inspectors in the team.

The services of SPs K E Baiju and K K Aji have been made available to the city police commissioner for maintaining law and order in Vizhinjam. Senior officials held a special meeting yesterday to assess the situation in Vizhinjam under the leadership of ADGP in charge of law and order M R Ajith Kumar, intelligence chief Vinod Kumar, city police commissioner G Sparjan Kumar and south zone IG P Prakash.

More than 1200 policemen including from other districts and the armed police battalion have been deployed in the Vizhinjam area. ADGP M R Ajith Kumar has directed police officers on leave to return to duty and to be vigilant in all stations. Officials belonging to IG, DIG and SP ranks should directly control the situation.
