‘I wanted to marry this friend who used to travel with me in autos and drank tea on roadside,’ says Supriya Menon

Supriya Menon talks about her love story and her dating days with Prithviraj. She said that she didn't want to marry the superstar Prithviraj. She said that she reached to Prithviraj from the number given by her colleague. The two started as friends and the friendship grew and finally ended in marriage. She said that in the beginning she didn’t know that he was from an actors’ family and he used to travel with her in Mumbai in an auto. She said that she wanted to marry the friend who drank tea with her on the roadside.

‘She said she didn’t know he was from an actors’ family. While working in NDTV, senior journalist Srinivas Jain assigned her to do a story on Malayalam films. She said she didn’t even know about other actors apart from the two Big M’s Mammootty and Mohanlal.

One of her colleagues gave her a number of a young actor of the Malayalam film industry. He has a good knowledge of films. She asked me to call him and said that it will help her. That one call changed my life. Interview and feature did not happen, but we became friends. Gradually the friendship became stronger and we started dating.

Even in his busy schedule, Prithvi used to come to Mumbai. Will travel with me in auto. Will go to the beach and drink tea from the roadside. That time used to buy two copies of all books. One is for Prithvi and after reading will talk about the book for a long time.

Marriage was fixed after four years of dating. I decided to marry Prithvi who walked with me and not the star.’

The two got married in 2011 and are a star couple in Mollywood.
