Cabinet decides to give financial aid to family of Sajeev who collapsed and died in police custody

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A special cabinet meet today approved the draft of the Kerala General Sales Tax (Amendment) Bill. The cabinet approved the Kerala General Sales Tax (Amendment) draft Bill of 2022 to amend the KGST Act of 1963.

It has been decided to increase the KGST rate on foreign liquor by 4 per cent to make up for the revenue loss caused by the exemption of 5 per cent turnover tax levied on distilleries manufacturing and selling foreign liquor within the state. The amendment is based on this.

Financial aid
The family of Sajeev of Ayancheri in Vadakara will be given financial assistance from the chief minister's relief fund. He collapsed and died in the police station after being taken into custody by the Vadakara police. A decision has been taken to pay Rs 3,000 per month each to Sajeev's mother Janu and her sister Narayani throughout their life.
