THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Vizhinjam police have registered two more cases against Latin Archdiocese Archbishop Dr Thomas J. Netto for staging a strike to obstruct the construction of the Vizhinjam port on November 26th and trespassing into the construction area. The archbishop has been named the first accused in the cases. Auxiliary Bishop Christudas and Vicar General Eugene Perera have been named the second and third accused respectively.
One case was registered on a complaint filed by local resident KG Prasad. The other was voluntarily registered by the police. These two cases are in addition to the cases that were registered against the archbishop and other priests for conspiracy in the conflict that occurred that day. Apart from them, several others, including ten priests, have also been named accused. The FIR states that the protesters trespassed in the high-security zone despite the High Court ruling that the port construction work should not be obstructed.
