Youtuber harassed in Mumbai; South Korean embassy urges its citizens in India not to step out at night

MUMBAI: The South Korean Embassy has asked their citizens in India not to step out at night in view of their safety. This directive comes in the wake of the attack on a Korean YouTuber on the streets of Mumbai yesterday. “I am not aware whether the Republic of Korea embassy has reached out to us or not, I would have to check it. I have not seen any reports that they have reached out to us. It is a developing story. She would be given all attention and protection which is required by local authorities.”, said Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Arindam Bagchi.

Maharashtra Chief Minster Eknath Shinde said that “women walk alone at night in Mumbai as they know that they are safe. Stringent action will be taken against the accused."

Last Wednesday night, a South Korean woman was attacked while walking on the streets of Mumbai's Suburban Khan area. The accused tried to grab, touch and kiss the woman and took her away in the vehicle. The video of the incident was circulated on social media that day.
