Letter row: Clash during Mahila Morcha and Yuva Morcha march

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The municipal corporation office march jointly organized by Mahila Morcha and Yuva Morcha demanding the resignation of Mayor Arya Rajendran over the letter controversy resulted in a clash. The party activists conducted the march yesterday around 12.30 pm.

The police stopped the protesters by building a barricade in front of the corporation office. Police fired water cannons at the activists who tried to cross the barricade. However, when they did not disperse, it ended in a verbal spat between the angry activists and the police. The Mahila Morcha activist who got injured was immediately admitted to the general hospital.

The march was inaugurated by BJP National Committee member CK Padmanabhan. He said that CPM is a party which has been trained to do corruption in a systematic way. UDF and LDF are having a joint business in corruption, he said. After the inauguration, the police fired water cannons and tear gas at the activists who tried to cross the barricade. Then the activists dispersed.
