THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said in the assembly that police officers cannot be provided for domestic help to IPS officers and household chores should be done the inmates themselves. The Chief Minister gave this reply when KB Ganesh Kumar through a submission requested that IPS officers should stop making police officers do domestic work and appoint Class-4 employees for this.
“The IPS officers are appointing highly qualified civil police officers for domestic help like to buy groceries, bathe dogs and wash clothes. The government should stop this.”, said Ganesh Kumar.
“People will not harm any political leader in Kerala. There is no need to fear that the people will kill those whom they elected. The political leaders who have no threat to life should send bodyguards back. A leader, who has not been a member of the assembly for six years, have four policemen on duty for him. As there is shortage of civil police officers, those doing such duties should be recalled.”, demanded Ganesh.
The Chief Minister said that the misuse of policemen by top officials has reduced. “Gunmen are provided to leaders who have security threats. It is provided to some due to special consideration. Earlier, a person has stabbed a leader who was speaking at a public meeting in Ernakulam for no specific reasons. Gunmen should be avoided by those who find it unnecessary.”, said the Chief Minister.
