Assembly Speaker AN Shamseer announced yesterday that three women have been appointed to the Speaker's panel. Vadakara MLA KK Rema sat in the speaker's chair today and controlled the proceedings of the House. KK Rema's Facebook post about this experience and recalling some things is gaining attention.

“Celebrating the all-women speakers’ panel reveals the deep crisis of the democratic system. It is a sad fact that even after gaining independence, no woman has sat in the post of Speaker till now.”, wrote Rema.
