Delhi MCD polls: AAP ahead of BJP in close contest, Congress with another dismal show

NEW DELHI: The counting of votes in the Delhi Municipal Corporation election is underway, and the Aam Aadmi Party is ahead in 126 seats while BJP is leading in 113 seats. But the Congress is in the lead only in nine seats. When compared to the 2017 elections, the current figures indicate a setback for the BJP.

BJP has ruled Delhi Corporation for 15 years. In the elections held in 2017, the polling was 53 percent. That day, BJP was able to secure victory in 181 wards. AAP, which came second, won in 48 wards and Congress in 27 wards.

A total of 1349 candidates contested in the corporation with a total of 250 wards. BJP and Aam Aadmi Party have fielded candidates in all the wards and Congress in 247 seats. Exit poll results were in favor of AAP.
