THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: While the Adani Group will resume the construction of the Vizhinjam port today, the government has also taken steps to implement a plan to rehabilitate fishermen. The cabinet meeting decided to hand over eight acres of land in Muttathara village to the fisheries department to build a residential complex for the fishermen. Further action will be taken immediately. The government's aim is to quickly set up a port for ships and housing for fishermen.
The Adani Group is trying to speed up the construction of groynes and bring the first ship to the port by next Onam. For this, barges will be set up to deposit 30,000 tonnes of stone into the sea per day. 15000 tonnes were deposited before the strike. The government will withdraw from the decision to recover from the Latin Archdiocese the loss of Rs 226 crore incurred by the port company due to the strike. The government is also not ready to seek compensation from the Adani Group in the name of arbitration.
The protest pandal was removed by the strike committee yesterday evening. Construction materials will be delivered in large quantities from today.
