Woman and daughter succumb to burn wounds after being set on fire by in-laws; husband's family absconding

SULTANPUR: In a horrific incident, a woman and her three-year-old daughter succumbed to burn wounds after they were set on fire by her husband's in-laws in the name of dowry. The incident took place in Tavakkapur Nagra of the Kadipur area in Sultanpur district, Uttar Pradesh. The deceased have been identified as Lakshmi (25) and her daughter Riddhi (3).

Lakshmi and Riddhi, who suffered serious burn wounds, died while undergoing treatment at the hospital. The police have arrested Arvind Chaurasia, Lakshmi's husband, on murder charges. They also registered a case against Arvind's mother and other members of his family. Family members of Arvind fled the scene shortly after the incident. According to the police, they will shortly apprehend every accused.

Lakshmi and Arvind got married on May 12, 2018. According to Lakshmi's mother, Arvind's family had been torturing her daughter in the name of dowry since the day of marriage.
