fraud

KOCHI: The police have registered case against a private firm in Ernakulam and a lady in Fort Kochi in a fake world record certificate scam. Ten models, who are victims of the scam, gave a complaint to Kochi Deputy Commissioner, S Sasidharan following which the Ernakulam Central Police registered two cases.

The fake certificates were given in fashion shows conducted in Kottayam and Ernakulam. The DCP told that he has informed the Kottayam district police chief that a scam has been committed in Kottayam.

In the complaint, the models allege that they were duped of more than Rs.10,000 promising to give them Universal Achievers Book of Records, and Future Kalams Book of Records awards. They have complained against a private group in Ernakulam, and also against a lady from Fort Kochi, who is the CEO.

Doubts were raised after those who did not take part in the fashion show were also given certificates.
