Great Pilgrimage season begins today

SIVAGIRI: The pilgrimage season announced by Sivagiri Mutt on the occasion of the 90th annual pilgrimage will begin today. The lecture series will also start today. The preparations for the pilgrimage to be held on 30, 31 and January 1 are in the final stages.

Swami Satchidananda, President of Sree Narayana Dharma Sangham Trust, will inaugurate the lecture series at 4 pm today. Dharma Sangham Trust General Secretary Swami Rithambarananda, Treasurer Swami Saradananda, Pilgrimage Committee Secretary Swami Vishalananda and others will participate. The lectures will start tomorrow at 10 am.

Padayatra will start on 23rd

The padayatra led by Sivagiri Mutt and Gurudharma Pracharana Sabha will start from Kottayam Nagampadam temple on December 23rd. On January 16, 1928, it was while resting at the Nagampadam temple grounds that Gurudeva gave permission for the Sivagiri pilgrimage. The first pilgrimage took place four years later.

Registration for the departure of pilgrimage padyatras from various parts has been completed. Food and lodging facilities will be arranged for the pilgrims in various centres of the state with the cooperation of Gurudeva organisations and others.
