Councilors clash in Thiruvananthapuram Corporation, mayor reaches dais with help of police, BJP members suspended

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The opposition members staged a protest in the corporation’s council hall in connection with the letter controversy. They protested seeking the resignation of Mayor Arya Rajendran. BJP women councilors blocked the way of the mayor.

The mayor reached the dais after bypassing the opposing councilors protesting on the ground. The police and the LDF women councilors helped the mayor to reach the dais. A scuffle broke out between the police and the BJP councilors.

The council meet was disrupted due to the opposition ruckus. Some unruly scenes were witnessed between the CPM and the BJP members. The mayor suspended eight women councilors of the BJP who protested. The LDF councilors demanded to send them out from the council hall. The police are trying to move them using force.
