Director Ranjith booed at during IFFK closing ceremony, ‘Began life by working in SFI, so don’t dry to defeat me by this’, he replies

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Film director Ranjith, who is the Kerala State Chalachithra Academy Chairman was booed by the audience during the closing ceremony of IFFK. The crowd booed at Ranjith while he was about to deliver the welcome speech. “Don’t try to boo at me. I began my life in 1976 from SFI. This is not a problem for me.”, said Ranjith.

Ranjith's words:

“A friend of mine who is a journalist in Thiruvananthapuram told me that a group had decided to boo at me when I come to the dais to speak. I said it’s a good thing. They need to prove themselves by booing. I came to this event with my wife. I told her let's enjoy it together. This is nothing new to me. I started my life at SFI in 1976. So, this is not an issue. No one should try and fail by doing this.”

The delegates protested during the streaming of Lijo Jose Pellissery's ‘Nanpakal Nereth Mayakkam’. The protest was based on not getting seats, complaints regarding organising and online booking. Those who protested in this way were arrested and removed by the police. It was in connection with this that the crowd booed at Chairman Ranjith.
