THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Education Minister V Sivankutty wrote a letter to Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde demanding a detailed probe on the death of Nidha Fathima of Alappuzha and a member of the Kerala Team, who died at Nagpur in Maharashtra, when came to attend the national cycle polo sub junior championship. The minister in the letter requested that the allegation that she did not receive better medical care should also be included in the investigation. Sivankutty stated in the letter that all cooperation related to the investigation will be obtained from government’s side.
In the meanwhile, the post mortem of Nidha has been completed. All arrangements are being taken to bring the body to the state today itself. Her father reached Nagpur to receive the body. A M Arif MP met Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur and filed a complaint demanding a probe on her death.
Her father Shihabudeen reached Nagpur last night. He saw the body kept in the mortuary of Sree Krishna Hospital in Nagpur. The proceedings for the post mortem started after that. The police have recorded his statement. The Keraleeya Samajam activists are trying to bring the body in the next available flight.
In the meanwhile, her death has sparked a controversy. Arif MP moved a notice for an adjournment motion demanding a discussion on the issue in the wake of the allegation that the team including Fathima was not provided food and accommodation by the cycle federation of India.
