ALLAHABAD: Journalist Siddique Kappan has been granted bail in the ED case. It was the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court that granted him bail. Kappan's advocate had approached the High Court after the trial court rejected the bail plea.
Kappan was earlier granted bail in the NIA case. It is believed he will be soon released from jail. Meanwhile, Kappan's wife Raihanath said that she is happy that Kappan got bail and that he was in jail for so long without any reason.
Kappan, who is also the secretary of the Delhi unit of the Kerala Union of Working Journalists (KUWJ), was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh Police in October 2020 along with three others, while they were going to report an alleged gang rape and murder case of a 19-year-old Dalit girl in Hathras.
