Letter row in Thiruvananthapuram corporation; CPM appoints inquiry commission amid opposition protest

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: CPM has appointed an inquiry commission into the Thiruvananthapuram corporation letter row. A commission comprising leaders C Jayan Babu, DK Murali and R Ramu will investigate the matter and submit a report. The CPM leadership has directed the commission to submit the report within three weeks.

The decision regarding the inquiry commission was taken in the CPM district secretariat which met today. Meanwhile, Yuva Morcha demonstrated a march the other day demanding the mayor's resignation over the letter controversy. The police used water cannons three times to disperse the BJP workers. Later, BJP leader VV Rajesh said that the party would organize a hartal in the Thiruvananthapuram corporation on January 7 as part of the opposition's protest over the letter controversy.
