Politburo leaves decision on EP Jayarajan row to state leadership

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With the party central leadership leaving the decision on the high-profile resort controversy against LDF convener and CPM central committee member EP Jayarajan to the state unit, tomorrow's state secretariat meeting is set to become tense.

Amid fresh revelations, EP Jayarajan will attend the secretariat meeting after a long hiatus to explain his stand. The decision on matters including investigation will be based on the discussion in the secretariat meeting. Party sources have not ruled out the possibility of an inquiry by a committee of central committee members as allegations have been levelled against a senior central committee member. However, the CPM leadership is considering a move to cool things down after discussing the issue in the party as it became a hot topic in the media.

The matter can't be dismissed lightly

EP Jayarajan, who has been on leave since October 6 citing health reasons, was even absent from Raj Bhavan March organized by the Left Front against the Governor, an event inaugurated by Sitaram Yechury. The CPM state leadership suspects that Jayarajan's negative approach is behind his anger towards MV Govindan, who is junior to him, becoming the state secretary and PB member. It was in this context that P Jayarajan raised serious financial charges during the state committee meeting where the rectification document was discussed. CPM cannot take this lightly while discussing the errors that need to be rectified. By the time the central committee discusses the rectification document next month, the state leadership will have to come to a stand.
