One killed as houseboat sinks in Alappuzha, four rescued

ALAPPUZHA: One person has been killed after a houseboat sank. The houseboat parked near the Kannitta boat jetty in Alappuzha met with the accident. The dead has been identified as Ramachandra Reddy of Andhra Pradesh. Workers of other houseboats nearby rescued three who were with Reddy and an employee of the houseboat which met with the accident.

The houseboat belonged to a native of Kuthirapanthy. The plank at the bottom of the boat broke and water rushing inside led to the accident. An investigation has started into the incident.
