KOCHI: NIA conducted raids at 56 places in Kerala to collect strong evidences for the investigation conducted against the arrested Popular Front leaders. The aim is to submit strong evidences to make the case stronger against PFI in court and to completely uproot the banned organization.
After PFI was banned on September 22, NIA conducted a nationwide raid. Raids were carried out at 24 places in Kerala. In the raid, PFI state president, OMA Salam was arrested and thirteen other leaders were also taken into custody. Wednesday’s raid can be considered as a follow up after the midnight raids in collaboration with central agencies.
On September 28, Popular Front and other 8 related organizations were banned by the central government. After this many leaders were monitored by the NIA. It was found that even after banning, the terrorist activities continued. NIA sources say that the present raid was to collect evidence that will make the case related to the first raids stronger.
The PFI was banned for five years. To continue the ban against the organization, it must be made sure that the organization is supporting terrorist activities.
