THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A patient admitted to the hospital's intensive care unit has been allegedly bitten by a rat. The incident took place at Thiruvananthapuram Medical College. Girija Kumari, a kidney patient, was bitten by a rat when she was admitted to the ICU.

Girija's daughter Rashmi said that her mother was brought to the hospital in an unconscious state. "My mother regained consciousness after the administration of medicine. While she was kept under observation in the intensive care unit, she complained of pain in her leg. That is when it was noticed that a rat was biting her leg," Rashmi said.

"When I mentioned this to the doctor, he responded as if it was a routine matter. He told me to get her vaccinated. No one came to our help. The doctors did not even dress the wound even though it was bleeding," Rashmi added.
