CHENNAI: Actor turned politician Gayathri Raghuram, who was suspended from the BJP last year, has resigned from the party. She said women are not safe in the party in Tamil Nadu. She was the chief of BJP’s cultural wing.
The lack of equality within the party and lack of respect for women prompted her to resign from the BJP. It is with great sadness that such a decision was taken. Women are not safe under Annamalai's leadership. The jokes from outsiders are better than this, tweeted Gayathri.
I have taken the decision with heavy heart to resign from TNBJP for not giving opportunity for an enquiry, equal rights & respect for women. Under Annamalai leadership women are not safe. I feel better to be trolled as an outsider.
