Nurses to stage strike demanding pay rise, token strike in Thrissur on Thursday

nurses-

THRISSUR: Nurses of a private hospital are planning to go on strike demanding a pay rise. They are demanding that the daily wage be increased to Rs.1500. As per reports, a strike will be held in Thrissur on Thursday. The United Nurses Association has announced that if the issue is not resolved, the strike will be spread across the state.

There were two types of discussions regarding salary hike. The discussion convened at the Kochi Labor Commission office failed after UNA gave notice of the strike. UNA alleges that the management representatives did not participate in the discussion convened at the Thrissur District Labor Office. Following this, UNA has decided to hold a token strike in Thrissur tomorrow. A protest march has also been organized from Padinjarekkotta to Thrissur Collectorate at 10 am on Thursday.

Other important demands include scrapping of contract laws, strict enforcement of labour laws, inspection of all private hospitals, and legal action against management who commit violations.
