Young filmmaker Nayana Surya’s death a murder? Investigation handed over to Crime Branch

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The death of young film director Nayana Surya (28) is suspected to be a murder. The preliminary investigation report of the police states about the possibility of murder. With this, the case was handed over to the Crime branch.

More clarification is needed on how the wound on the neck and the damage to the internal organs occurred. The special investigation team may summon all the people related to the incident including the witnesses in the case.

On February 23, 2019, friends found Nayana unconscious inside her rented house in Althara. On the night of 22nd, Nayana spoke to her mother for half an hour. She hasn’t called anyone after that.

Nayana was working as the assistant director of Lenin Rajendran for ten years. Nayana's death was a month after Lenin Rajendran’s death. Earlier, the police had said that Nayana, who was seeking treatment for depression, may have committed suicide, or she might have collapsed in her room and died as she was diabetic.
