NEW DELHI: BJP-Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) workers shake hands in Delhi Corporation regarding the mayor election. After a dispute arose over the swearing-in of the nominated members, there was a scuffle between the members of both parties. Both the party leaders shouted slogans at each other and protested. The police struggled to control the conflict. Following the ruckus, the presiding officer and the corporation commissioner also returned.
The Aam Aadmi Party won a landslide victory in 134 seats in the 250-member municipal council and won an absolute majority in the corporation. 126 seats are required for the absolute majority. BJP managed to win 104 seats while the Congress managed to win only nine seats. Earlier, Congress had 31 seats and BJP had 181 seats here.
