Student hangs self after not being allowed to write exam citing poor attendance

KOZHIKODE: Distraught over not being allowed to write the exam, a student hanged himself. The deceased has been identified as Mohammad Aniq (19), a resident of Bilathikkulam in Kozhikode. The teenager did the extreme act at around 3.30 pm on Sunday when there was no one at home. He was a first-year student of respiratory therapy at SRM College, Chennai. The college authorities did not allow the student to write the exam citing poor attendance. The first-semester exam is scheduled to start on Monday. Relatives also alleged that he was not allowed to write the exam despite paying the exam fee. A complaint was lodged with Nadakkavu police.
