THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Monday came down heavily on the central government and the RSS. He also said that some people are making efforts to eliminate the rights of women in the state. The Chief Minister said this while inaugurating the national conference of the All India Democratic Women's Association.

"A conscious effort is being made to bring back superstitions and evil practices in the state. Women are being made victims of most of such practices.
There is an attempt to eliminate the rights of women in society. Attempts are being made to blame the assaulted woman rather than blaming the assailant. Victim shaming is taking place here.," the CM said.

Lashing out at the central government and the Sangh Parivar, the CM said that Sangh Parivar was attempting to glorify criminals. He also mentioned that the Muslim community is the most attacked in the country. "The Sangh Parivar is seeing Muslims and Christians as enemies. Bajrang Dal attacks on Muslims are not a thing of the past. The BJP government's position is that citizenship should be based on religion. A move is underway to demolish Gyanvapi Masjid in Varanasi and Shahi-Eidgah Mosque in Mathura. The Department of Archeology's statement that it is ready for inspection in Mathura is against the Supreme Court's position," he said.

"In India, the divorce of one section alone is a criminal case, while that of other sections is a civil case. This is the position of the BJP government. The government, which is supposed to protect the citizens, creates division and terrorizes a section. Christians are also being attacked. Certain sections are being denied the freedom of religion even in Karnataka. Priests and even small children are being attacked. However, in Kerala, the Sangh Parivar is moving forward by adopting a policy of appeasement. It cannot show its true stand in Kerala. The people of Kerala would band together against the Sangh Parivar if it attempts to display its actual stand there. There are martyrs in every part of the state who worked against the communal stand of RSS," he added.
