When India leads the Great 20

modi

The November 2022 G-20 Summit in Bali, Indonesia was convened against a backdrop of much divisiveness among member states. The main reason for the differences among the nations was the Russia-Ukraine war. Western countries have taken the position of condemning Russia's invasion of Ukraine. But countries like China had a different attitude. There were even doubts about whether there would be a joint statement on the summit's decisions. The G-20 declaration is valid only when all the members of the G-20, which is formed by 20 countries including India, China, the United States, Britain and the European Union, reach a consensus. But despite the conflict of opinions, the summit issued a comprehensive resolution calling attention to the difficult economic problems faced by all nations, both developed and developing. The announcement came from the summit in Indonesia that we will stand together to overcome the serious economic crisis that the world is facing today. The summit also assessed that the economic crisis would not only increase food shortages, inflation and poverty but also lead to famine. The accusation that the war is bankrupting the world, stunting growth and fueling inflation is optimistic in a way. The 17th G-20 summit was largely constructive and gave the world a new direction.

We are proud that after the 17th summit, India has assumed the presidency of the G-20 nations. India's opportunity to hold the presidency of the world's major economic powers opens up a world of opportunities.

India taking centre stage at the 18th Summit to be held in New Delhi on September 9 and 10, 2023, will add new dimensions to the country's success and prosperity. The motto of the 18th Summit is One Earth, One Family, One Future. The concept of Vasudhaivakudumbaka of India is the maxim puts forward. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in the handing-over ceremony that India is assuming the chairmanship with the aim of progressing proactively with the will to inclusive for a lofty goal. The prime minister stated at the conference that the principle of data for progress will be the concept of the next G-20 and to bring digital transformation in the lives of all people in the next 10 years. India's call is very timely and creative as the world continues to explore and implement ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.

There is no doubt that the G-20 chairmanship and the 18th summit will provide ample opportunities for the development of the country as well as strengthen international relations. India's leadership, regardless of party politics, should now immerse themselves in homework to make the most of the opportunities.
