LOS ANGELES: The Golden Globe Awards has come to India after a gap of 14 years. S S Rajamouli's blockbuster ‘RRR’ won the gold at the 2023 Golden Globe Awards by winning the trophy for the best original song for ‘Naatu Naatu’. The music was composed by M M Keeravani.

Keeravani received the award for the best original song at the 80th Golden Globe Awards held in Los Angeles, California. The song ‘Nattu Nattu’ was sung by Keeravani's son Kala Bhairava and Rahul Siplingunj.

A R Rahman brought the Golden Globe award to India with the film ‘Slum Dog Millionaire’ in 2009. However, an Indian film that is entirely in a local language has got the Golden Globe through RRR. Keeravani won the award after competing with Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga.

RRR also competed for the Golden Globe Award in the Best Foreign Language Film category. Rajamouli's ‘RRR’ lost out the Golden Globe award for the best picture-non English to Santiago Mitre's historical drama ‘Argentina, 1985’. The film follows the events surrounding the 1985 Trial of the Juntas, which prosecuted the ringleaders of Argentina's last civil-military dictatorship. The other nominees in 'best picture-non-English' category were Korean romantic mystery film ‘Decision To Leave’, German anti-war drama ‘All Quiet on the Western Front’, and French-Dutch coming-of-age drama ‘Close’.
