THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Reports say the BJP is intensifying their moves to capture the much-anticipated Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha constituency following hints that Shashi Tharoor MP will not contest the Lok Sabha polls and instead will focus more on politics in Kerala. Tharoor had indicated that he is interested in contesting the assembly polls. If Tharoor is not contesting, the BJP believes that Suresh Gopi could capture the constituency. Actions have been initiated accordingly. Thiruvananthapuram is one of the most promising constituencies for BJP in the state. The party has shown strong competition in the previous elections. The vote share has also increased significantly. The assessment of the party centres is that things are more favourable now.
Reports said Union Minister V Muraleedharan is likely to contest in Attingal. There are indications that current UDF M P Adoor Prakash may change constituency. In such a situation, the party considers Muraleedharan contesting here as a positive factor.
Along with these two constituencies, the BJP is planning to bring strong candidates in the highly promising Pathanamthitta, Mavelikkara and Palakkad. It is also reported that national leaders may contest in these constituencies.
