CPM leader accused of sexually abusing 15-year-old after mock drill session surrenders before police

KOZHIKODE: A CPM leader surrendered to the police in the case of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old after a mock drill session. K Unnikrishnan, a member of Mavoor panchayat, surrendered after being on the run for two weeks.

Earlier, the Kozhikode POCSO court had rejected the anticipatory bail application of the accused. The mock drill was held on December 29 at Mavoor panchayat of Kozhikode taluk.

The child's parent complained that Unnikrishnan abused him in the ambulance broought for mockdrill and in a car. A case has been registered under various sections including the POCSO Act.
