Entire Joshimath may sink including army’s helipad and Narasimha temple, warns ISRO

NEW DELHI: The ISRO warns that the entite Joshimath may sink completely. From December 27, 2022 to January 8 this year, Joshimath town had sunk by 5.4 cm in 12 days. The speed of land subsidence in recent days has increased comparing from last April to November when the total subsidence was only 8.9 cm.

The ISRO's National Remote Sensing Center (NRSC) evaluated the satellite images of Joshimath and submitted the report. The pictures were taken by Cartosat-2S satellite. It is clear from satellite images that the entire town of Joshimath, including the army helipad and the Narasimha temple, is sinking. Joshimath –Auli road will also collapse due to this. The scientific team is examining in detail the cracks formed in houses and roads. A detailed report will be submitted soon.
