20 girl students in Kannur complain about teachers sexual assault, 52-year-old Faizal arrested

KANNUR: A school teacher from Kannur has been arrested for sexually assaulting more than 20 of his students. The 52-year-old Faizal from Taliparamaba has been taken into custody after students came together to complain about the sexually demeaning endeavors of their teacher. It was during class hours that Faizal usually tried assaulting girl students. Taliparamaba SI R.Dineshan made the arrest. Meanwhile, the police have registered 5 cases on basis of statements from 5 students of classes 6 and 7 and more statements are being taken.

The public conscience in Kerala has been shattered over repeated cases of sexually provocative crimes directed toward students. The northern districts of Kerala have seen a rapid rise in POCSO cases. Many such cases go unregistered and not many students will gather up courage to speak about such nauseating incidents to parents.
