Youth beaten to death over mobile phone dispute in capital city

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A youth was beaten to death in the capital city over a mobile phone dispute while consuming liquor. The dead is Saju, a native of Ambadi Nagar in Sreekaryam. The incident happened early Sunday morning. Soon after consuming alcohol with his friends, they had grabbed his phone. When Saju went back to get it, he had an argument with two of his friends.

His friends attacked him with stones and pieces of wood. His friends later abandoned Saju, who was unconscious, near Katela Holy Trinity School, and then fled from there. He was brought to the hospital by Sreekaryam police around 2 am. However, he had died by then. Police have registered a case of murder and are trying to nab the accused. People who consumed liquor with Saju have been identified. Body of Saju kept in the hospital, will be handed over to his relatives after the post-mortem.
