plane

KATHMANDU: A plane carrying 68 passengers and four crew members crashed in Nepal’s Pokhara Sunday morning. The flight crashed on the runway of Pokhara International Airport at Kaski in Nepal. The flight belonged to Yeti Airlines. The airport has been closed following the accident.

The flight crashed on the bank of the Seti River when it was close to landing at the Pokhara airport. The crash happened around 20 minutes after the take-off, suggesting the place might have been on the descent. Rescue operations have been difficult because of a raging fire at the wreckage.

The aircraft took off from Kathmandu at 10:33 am. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' has called an emergency meet following the incident. The twin-engine ATR 72 aircraft operated by Yeti Airlines was en route from Kathmandu. 16 bodies have been recovered from the wreckage.
