THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has appointed the Water Authority MD as ADB's Project Director to oversee the Rs 2511 crore project which will be implemented in collaboration with ADB to provide drinking water distribution in Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam Corporations to a private company. The Chief Engineer of Projects and Operations is the Deputy Project Director. Kerala Kaumudi had reported on January 16 that an agreement was reached to provide drinking water distribution in these two corporations to a private company.
The project will be carried out as a pilot project by dividing Kochi into 9 zones. After dividing the Kochi Municipal Corporation area into four sub-divisions, it will be classified into 9 zones.
Office opened
The Water Authority opened an office by giving the charge of Project Management- ADB Unit to the officers of the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) at the Water Authority Head Office for the implementation of the project. The office of the expired Japan drinking water project was made the office of ADB. The Project Director of the Project Management Unit at the Thiruvananthapuram Water Authority headquarters will fully oversee the office.
