Five years with scissors left inside; Harsheena and family planning for hunger strike

KOZHIKODE: Harsheena, who lived with scissors left inside her for 5 years is planning to proceed with public protest. She said to Kerala Kaumudi that she is planning to go on a hunger strike in front of medical college till she gets justice. She is planning to continue with legal proceedings as well. 'The special investigation team that was declared by the minister has not bothered to give us a call so far. I will proceed with a hunger strike in front of medical college till I get justice. I am planning to start the protest on monday' said Harsheena with a heavy heart.

On top of the health issues caused by living with a pair of scissors inside her for 5 years, Harsheena is now under treatment for injury from a fall that happened yesterday.

The artery forceps which were left inside Harsheena by mistake during her surgery for pregnancy were removed on 17th September 2022 through surgery in medical college. When the issue became controversial the medical college investigation team rushed in. When that investigation was rejected by Harsheena the health department declared an investigation on 21st October 2022. This investigation produced a report in favor of Harsheena. But the health department has not released the report for 3 months. In between when Harsheena got admitted to the hospital for health issues, Kerala Kaumudi reported the news, and the health minister personally called Harsheena to promise a solution within a week. Minister declared an investigation under the supervision of additional chief secretary of health department. One month passed and there has not been an investigation or report. Under such circumstances, Harsheena has decided to proceed with legal proceedings and a hunger strike.
