Customs seizes Rs 3 cr worth of gold from Karipur airport, gold smuggled by concealing in body, mixture found in aircraft lavatory

MALAPPURAM: In a major drug bust at Karipur airport, gold worth Rs 3 crore was seized. Rs 55 lakh worth of gold was found hidden in a computer printer. Abdul Ashiq, a native of Malappuram, was arrested in the case.

Ashiq told the customs that the gold smuggling group approached him saying that he would be given a reward of Rs 90,000. Gold was also found in a waste bin in the lavatory of the plane. Customs also arrested Abdul Nishar from Thavanur and Zubair from Koduvally who smuggled gold by hiding it in their body.
