Fire at nursing home in Jharkhand; six killed including famous doctor couple

RANCHI: Six people, including two doctors, were killed in a fire at a private nursing home. A fire broke out at Hazra Memorial Hospital, a nursing home in Jharkhand's Dhanbad, around 2 am today. The cause of the accident was a fire that started from a store room in the building.

Owners of the nursing home, Dr Vikas Hazra, his wife Dr Prema Hazra, their relative Sohan Khamari and housekeeper Tara Devi were among the deceased. The Dhanbad Sub-Divisional Magistrate said that it is not clear how the fire started and an investigation has been launched into the incident.

Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren expressed condolences over the incident. The Chief Minister expressed his grief over the death of eight people, including a famous doctor couple, through Twitter.
